Welcome to the Riverside Rose Society website!
You've come to the right place! We are the oldest rose society in the Inland Empire, third oldest in southern California, and as you know, with age comes experience! A strong sense of tradition and history is part of that as well, and nowhere is a rose society more proud of its tradition and history than here in Riverside. Check us out on this webpage under the heading "About Us", subheading "RRS History", and you will see the reason for our immense pride in this organization.
In 2008, Riverside Rose Society celebrated its Golden Anniversary, whose theme was "Fifty Golden Years of Roses". At the end of an exciting and momentous year, RRS was awarded the prestigious "Lady Bird Johnson Award" by Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful (Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce). A golden ending for a golden year…
Our journey of the next fifty years is underway and we would love to have you be a part of it. After all, as our motto says, this is the place “where roses and people have been blooming for over fifty glorious years!"
Riverside Rose Society is a nonprofit, for-public-benefit, educational organization that is dedicated to the cultivation and appreciation of "America's National Flower"…and to having fun as we learn about all things roses. Whether one is an experienced rose grower or new to the hobby, our society has something for everyone who has an interest in roses, from learning how to prune or propagate them...to how to hybridize or exhibit them...from learning how to photograph or paint them...to how to cook or decorate with them. There’s no doubt about it, the ways to enjoy roses are endless!
We also have folks in our society called “Consulting Rosarians” who will be happy to answer any questions you might have about rose growing. “CRs” as they are often called, are members who have earned this designation by our parent organization, the American Rose Society, as a result of special training and testing in the area of rose horticulture. In addition, we have a number of member rosarians who, although not CRs, have been growing roses successfully for years and are equally happy to answer any questions you might have. Everyone in the Riverside Rose Society stands behind ARS's proclamation that, "Yes, you CAN grow beautiful roses!"
As this website grows, there will be more information added on a regular basis, so check back often.
We're glad you're here!
